I decided to stick with EVGA/nVidia since my old card lasted a long time and didn’t disappoint. So far so good on this one. 1st off it was an upgrade over my old 8800 GT. This computer ran WoW, Alpha Protocol and Oblivion good on the old card. But the old card could not really max them out. On the GT 220 all three games either look much better or run much smoother now. One minor issue many people may have is that this card only has one DVI connector also to an old VGA connector. This seemed like an odd design choice to me as most newer monitors run on DVI now. VGA to DVI adapters are easy to get and pretty cheap if you really need one. Consequently of having only one connector it is possible that this card is unable to run a duel monitor setup. I only use one monitor myself so I dont have way to test this. But it is something to think about just in case. On the flipside the card has a connector for HDMI. Just be aware that if you run Windows seven that your system may attempt to auto install drivers for HDMI audio and override any kind of intergrated audio chipset that can be on your motherboard. This primarily has to do with BIOS settings and is really no fault on the part of EVGA or nVidia. It is a easy fix but you may want to have someone that knows computers useful if you are not overly tech savvy yourself. No point in paying $50 to install/fix something that should only take about 10 15 at the most.
This card also comes with EVGA Precision (an overclocking utility). Unlike most businesses EVGA has no problems with overclocking your card and won’t void your warranty if you do so. Now the average user may not have a use for this. But if you know what you’re doing it is a good way to squeeze more performance out of this card. Surprisingly at my current settings (735 core clock, 1490 shader clock, 825 memory clock and 90 fan speed) the card rarely goes past 55 degrees C. When it has it is only maxed out at about 58. On the factory settings the card usually maxes out at about 53 while playing a game so in general it is not more strain. Plus the fan is super calm at almost full speed. As generally just think about that results with overclocking will differ and that you do so at your risk.
All in all you really can not go wrong with this card if you do not have much to use up. Some minor issues keeps it from being a hard five star ranking. But an cheap price also as great performance more than make up for it. If you need a good balance between performance and affordability then look no more than this card.

I have to that I’m pleased with it. I have earlier owned the EVGA NVIDIA GeForce 9400GT. I only purchase NVIDIA graphics cards from EVGA. I have had no problems. It comes with a two year warranty, if you register online.
This card has DDR3 memory, and and HDMI port. It rates 6.5 WEI in Windows seven Pro. 64 bit.
I am not a hard core gamer. I just play Star Trek Online and Age of Empires III. It can play both those games on maximum settings. I’m happy. I could certainly recommend this card to anybody on a budget.

Compared to other cards this month the GT 220 is really not the best in the litter. The Nvidia 240GT DDR5 card offers a significant advantage over this card, and it’s around the same price range. I mean your talking 50+ GB/s in comparison to this cards 22.5 GB/s tops. Over that the Stream Processors are double that of this card at 96.
However if you really do not mind spending around $80 despite of a rebate I could direct you to use up your hard earned cash on an ATI 5670, as it can operate on a 300W power supply and others much bang for your buck. It has four times the Stream processors at around 200, and is hella fast.
The GT 220 DDR3 one GB looks to still perform okay, but it is not a great card if you like to game hardcore. The FPS with this card on high resolution in a game like Crysis is seriously missing, and I mean around ten to 15 FPS if I recall right as indicated by one test I read online. Do not plan on running your beloved games on the highest resolution at max settings and expect great performance, unless its an older game or not resource intensive.
Those ATI cards in the five series are DX eleven supportive, whereas this beast is not. You’ll have more Stream Processors, more GB/s, and just more power in general with the cheap 5670 card. I’m tempted to send in this card and return it to get a refund so I can get a card with more power.
